Programs Overview - Yoga with a Therapeutic Emphasis

The origins of yoga are based on their knowledge of defined principles, anatomies, and the human systems. What distinguishes therapeutic yoga from yoga is in the deeper understanding and “the how” and “the why” with which to apply the practice of yoga. For example, it's not just the position of the body by itself but the addition of breathing, attention, understanding and intention from which therapeutic yoga emerges. To put a body in a position (asana) not supported by yogic principles is simply physical therapy.

Yoga therapy can be defined as the application of yoga techniques for the use of an individual's healing or well being; however, the key differentiating factor is in the justification of yogic decisions.

The Divine School of Yoga Therapy LLC is a therapeutic yoga instructor training program that prepares students to successfully teach a variety of group yoga classes. The program assists future yoga teachers in developing their own vision and mission in the comfort of a small group setting that provides genuine sharing and support.

Students work individually and in groups exploring the fundamental tools and techniques for teaching yoga as well as creating custom yoga programs for special populations. Students gain a deeper understanding of the healing aspects of yoga, as well as tools and techniques for the practice of yoga.

The graduating therapeutic yoga instructor learns techniques, practices, protocols and gain hands-on experience that can be applied in group or private settings.
