A "Divine" History
Divine Yoga Center LLC came into existence in late December,
2005. Centrally located in a small suburb in the Dallas/Fort
Worth area, Divine Yoga Center LLC quickly grew into a community
of yogis, both old and new practitioners alike.
Within the first few months, it was discovered many of these yogis
suffered from past injuries and were ultimately seeking relief
through yoga. Rather than appealing to the masses, Divine
Yoga Center LLC instructors began to cater to the needs of
these individuals, as well as setting specific class themes,
such as the lower back, hips, and
sacrum.
From the start, the divine philosophy was to
bring together a collection of experienced yoga teachers from
a variety of traditions in order to meet a kaleidoscope of
needs, not the one-size-fits-all mentality of
some traditions. With a variety of teachers came a variety
of personal injuries and illness, thus igniting a bigger call
to address every aspect of the human system with
respect to individuality and situation.
Over the past years, Divine Yoga Center LLC has grown and
has positioned itself with the yoga
community as not only a studio that offers the physical practice
of yoga. In respect to the spirit of yoga, Divine Yoga Center LLC
provides free (karma) yoga for those with disabilities and
for therapeutic purposes to selected individuals. The center
receives referrals from local health care professionals and
has established strong relationships with neurologists, chiropractors,
and other health care providers in the area.
The demand for a system of well-being through yoga and our
instructors desire to learn from renowned therapeutic master
yogis has led to the training program. With this in mind,
it became only a natural progression that Divine School of
Yoga Therapy LLC came into existence.
Our decision was confirmed after attending the inaugural
Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research (SYTAR) in Los Angeles,
California and being invited to become a charter school of
the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). With
invaluable feedback and hands-on experiences, Divine School
of Yoga Therapy LLC has tailored its training in various areas
needing to be stressed in this emerging field. The Therapeutic
Yoga training program is designed to meet and exceed the upcoming
standards and requirements in this emerging profession.
